A cracked glass or a scratched panel costs more than the foam that would have saved it. The trick is picking the right thickness. White EPE foam roll from Maa Goury Enterprises comes in ten thicknesses, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 15 mm, so you can match the foam to the product instead of overpacking everything.

What is EPE foam roll?

EPE stands for expanded polyethylene. It is a light, closed-cell foam that is supplied as a roll, so you cut only the length you need. It resists moisture and humidity, it adds almost no weight to a parcel, and it also insulates well, which helps with temperature-sensitive goods.

A simple thickness guide

Use this as a starting point, then test with your own product.

ThicknessGood for
1 to 3 mmSurface protection: wrapping panels, ceramics and electronics to stop scratches
4 to 6 mmGeneral wrapping of appliances, furniture panels and carton lining
8 to 12 mmExtra cushioning for fragile or heavier items such as glass and instruments
15 mmThe thickest cushioning in our range, for items that need the most protection

Three questions to ask before you order

  • How fragile is it? Scratch-prone surfaces need a soft wrap. Breakable items need a thicker layer.
  • How heavy is it? Heavier products compress foam more, so go up a thickness.
  • How far will it travel? Courier and long-distance shipping give more knocks than a short local delivery.

Packing tips that save money

  • Wrap the product fully, then fix the foam with tape so it does not slide.
  • Layer two thin wraps rather than buying one very thick one when you need both surface care and cushioning.
  • Always use a strong outer carton. Foam softens the knocks, but the carton holds the shape.
  • Store rolls upright and dry, away from direct heat.
